I know that it takes a certain level of courage to take a leap and try something new. I totally get that you might have some burning questions, or a little uncertainty about what this whole coaching thing is all about. I hope these FAQ’s bring you even more insight, peace of mind and information to help you make the right choice for you.
And remember, you can always get in touch with me directly should you have a question that’s not already listed here.
Chances are, there’s an inkling inside of you that want’s to find out more about coaching simply by getting to this FAQ page (go you!). The best way to see whether coaching is in fact right for you is to book in a no-obligation complimentary consult with me.
Completing the questionnaire and having this one-on one chat with me will help you to get a clear picture of the types of goals that we’d work on together within a coaching series. This is also an excellent opportunity for us to get to know one another better to make sure we’re the right fit. Oh and another little hint; trust your intuition here. If you feel slightly nervous but excited about the whole prospect of coaching then you’re onto a good thing!
Friends and family are often the first people we call upon whenever we’re feeling stuck, or need help with a life challenge. As wonderful and supportive as your loved ones can be, they hold a certain level of emotional attachment to you which means that their own biases, judgements and beliefs can greatly impact on the guidance that you receive from them.
On the other hand, a coach will hold no pre-conceived judgements, feelings or biases when working with you, which means we’re always ready and open to get to the heart of what YOU truly want for yourself.
My role is to offer a neutral, safe yet completely supportive environment for you to hash out your dreams AND come up with an action plan to make it happen. Don’t get me wrong, friends and family are fantastic cheerleaders! However, when it comes to the practicalities of taking action or figuring out your next best step, a coach has the skill set to help you break down those big dreams so that you can go ahead and create positive change in your life.
Counselling and coaching are different in terms of their approach and the relevant training required.
A counsellor generally uses talk-therapy to support people with unhelpful thoughts, behaviours or life patterns that are relating to current problems, immediate crises, or long-term difficulties. In doing so, this generally involves reviewing someone’s past to help them come up with solutions and enhance their self-awareness.
A coach on the other hand supports people to move forward from where they are now, to where they want to be, where the main focus is on setting future orientated goals and taking positive action.
It is important to know these differences so that you can decide which route is best for you.
I have graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in nutrition and psychology at Deakin University Australia and am a certified life coach through the Beautiful You Coaching Academy. I appreciate and respect all health professions and out of duty of care, I will always refer any potential client on to another health professional should I feel that their needs are outside the scope of my capabilities as a coach. I have a wonderful variety of counsellors, psychologists and health professionals that I can happily refer you onto if need be.
It is always best to check with the coach, counsellor or practitioner directly to determine their skills, trainings and experience.
Of course you can!
Whilst my main focus is on working with women in their twenties, if you happen to be in your thirties too (which I’ll be nearing soon) please know that that’s a-okay. Age is just a number after all!
I have worked with a wide variety of women of all ages and backgrounds therefore the most important thing is that we’re the right fit for one another. The best way to determine that is booking in a complimentary consult with me and filling out the pre-coaching questionnaire. If I don’t happen to be the right coach for you, I have plenty of amazing coaches to call upon too.
I have a soft spot for working with women in their mid-twenties which is why you will see the term ‘twenty-somethings’ featured throughout my website.
This is simply a chat between you and me! It’s important to fill out the pre-session questionnaire prior to our consult so that I know exactly what you would most like to achieve through coaching.
Having this information prior to our call is helpful so that we can make the most out of our 30 minute chat, and I can get a clear picture of your potential goals. This is the perfect opportunity to ask me any questions too and I will let you know how I can best support you if I were to be your coach over the next 3 months.
There is absolutely no obligation for you to proceed with coaching after our complimentary consult. However, if you’re excited and ready to get started after our call then we can go ahead and start booking in your coaching sessions.
Prior to seeing a massage therapist (or any other practitioner for that matter), you generally need to fill out a form detailing your concerns. A massage therapist would be interested to know the areas where you experience pain, your preferred pressure and the type of massage that you’re hoping to experience.
The exact same process applies with coaching! Knowing what’s currently working in your life, what’s not and getting a sense of your current situation ensures that I can support you in the best way possible. You can write as much or as little as you like in response to these questions and often people say that filling out the questionnaire is incredibly helpful in itself at gaining clarity and inspiration.
No. All coaching calls are conducted via Skype or phone which means that location is no barrier in order for us to work together.
Whilst I appreciate that some people prefer speaking face to face, coaching is just as effective and powerful online and I can guarantee that they’ll be just as fun too. It means that you can be in the comfort and privacy of your own home for our sessions with no need rush around finding a car park either!
If you choose to have our sessions via Skype, you also get the option of having the video turned on or off for these calls. This is completely dependent on what you’re most comfortable with, but either options are completely fine and just as effective.
All good love, all good!
Sickness and all sorts of ‘life’ emergencies can pop up from time to time so please know that in those instances, we can always re-schedule your sessio. Where possible, please allow as much notice as possible (preferably 24 hours) however I get that in emergencies that’s not always the case!
You can re-schedule a new time with me via my online calendar and to keep that momentum going with your sessions, let’s try and book that in as soon as possible.
I know I may be biased but hand on my heart, I genuinely feel that coaching has been one of the most worthwhile investments that I’ve made. Scratch that, it’s on par with our thermomix, but seriously – I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t plucked up the courage and signed on to work with my own coach all those years ago.
I understand that we all have different financial responsibilities and perceptions of money ‘well spent’ but coaching is an investment that really does have long-term benefits (I’m talking years and years of happiness and confidence and tools that will last you a lifetime). I know it can feel scary at first, so please know that its completely normal to feel that way whenever investing in something as personal as coaching.
The choice is always yours and ultimately you get to decide.
For 3 month coaching series, I offer a monthly payment plan. If you choose to pay in full, upfront I also offer a 10% discount which is quite handy too.
If you opt to have a Kickstarter consult with me, this will need to be paid for in full up front. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions about payments plans too.
Payments are made via my online booking system which generally coincides with you booking in your sessions.
I will always get in touch with you personally after payment is made to confirm that I have received your payment, and we can go ahead with your consult/coaching series.
Please note that payments are made in advance ie. If you’ve opted for monthly payments, you will initially be charged for the first month of coaching prior to commencing.
Coaching is personal and of course there are no ‘guarantees’ when it comes to outcomes, however if for any reason you wish to stop coaching during a series, no refunds will be given for any previous sessions that have already taken place.
Once you sign the contract and agree to proceed with a coaching series, both the client and coach agree to provide each other with a fourteen day notice in the event either wishes to cancel further services.
Once notification is received within this period, any future payments remaining that fall beyond that date will be ceased.
