What The Hell Is Life Coaching? It’s uncovering what you truly want. Even if you don’t know what that is. Part 2
You’re sitting at work. You take another glance at the clock and there’s only 2 more hours to go. It’s the home straight (YES!) –that means you get to go yoga soon and downward dog your stress away. Deep down inside you know that there’s more out there for you, but the thought of stepping away from this role? Well, it seems too hard…you’re already feeling overwhelmed as it is. You’ve worked so hard to get to where you want to be and to throw in the towel now? Surely, it would be a waste. It was only a year ago and this job was everything you could have wanted and more. Dressing up for work was fun and the weekends would always come round so quickly. Now you’re here, counting down the hours and you simply can’t ignore it.
This job, this desk, these 4 walls aren’t lighting you up anymore.
But where do you go? And what do you do when you’re not even sure what else is out there? The thought of change is equally as scary as staying put – but feeling frustrated and bored? It’s not what you signed up for.
I get it. I really do – because I’ve been there.
I know what it’s like to work so hard and be well on your way to the ultimate career…until it starts to wear off. That excited feeling turns to comfortable and then comfortable starts to feel boring, and boring makes you feel completely uninspired. You convince yourself to simply ‘get over it’, but you’ve reached a dead end. Where do you go from here?
What if I told you that you didn’t need to quit your job to be happy?
What if laughter was something you experienced on a daily basis, not just from watching a rom-com?
What if you were able to sign up for Pilates and still have money left over in your bank account?
What if you could lovingly prepare a meal and enjoy it with your lover?
And what if Monday’s were just as exciting as Fridays?
Well, that would be a freakin relief wouldn’t it?!
You see – you don’t need to completely overhaul your life. Baby steps lady! Uncovering what you truly want is all about taking baby steps. Even if you don’t know what that is right now, exploring your options then taking action is going to help you reach that sweet spot.
Maybe it start’s with writing a list of all the things you enjoy doing outside of work, and actually doing them. It could be surrounding yourself with like-minded people, or experimenting with a meditation practice so that you feel calm at the end of the day.
You don’t have to bang your head against a brick wall and figure this out all by yourself.
Moving forward and making any kind of change can bring up all sorts of fear, doubt, uncertainty and overwhelm. That’s why having someone to guide you throughout this process makes it so much easier. That’s where a life coach comes in.
When you’re second-guessing yourself, a coach can help you to uncover the answers already inside of you. Yep, you do already have the answers.
When you’re ready to throw in the towel and call it quits, a coach can help you to find your ‘why’ again so you can keep moving forward with ease.
When you feel like you haven’t done enough, and your list of things to do keep piling up, a coach will remind you how brilliant you already are – because you ARE enough.
A coach is there to simply be the facilitator of your dreams.
But instead of dreaming/hoping/wishing things were different – they WILL be different.
Things will start to get clearer.
Fear will take a back seat and excitement will take over.
You’ll say no to working late, and yes to catch up’s with friends.
Lunch break’s will be filled with LUNCH, and laughter and breathing space.
You’ll feel confident walking into meetings, and you’ll be open to new opportunities.
Life will feel more balanced and there’ll be more sleep, more down time, yet more adventures.
Worrying about work won’t take up the precious space in your head anymore.
You’ll feel like YOU again. Not the moody, teary, ‘I don’t know what the hell I’m doing’ version of you.
You. Passionate, courageous, kind, loveable you.
Even if you don’t know what you want right now, I can guarantee that you will figure it out.
And if you didn’t want to figure it out by yourself, then I wholeheartedly suggest you say yes to coaching. We’ll uncover what it is that light’s you up, one little step at a time.
Besides, breaking it down is loads more fun when it’s done together! 🙂
If you haven’t already checked out part 1 of this series, you can jump over here to find out what’s involved in the coaching process.
Before I let you go, I’d love to leave you this question: What little baby step could you take today to help you get unstuck? Maybe the only step you need to take is to ask for help? Either way, I urge you to take some form of action, because as the wise Marie Forleo once said, ‘clarity comes from engagement, not thought’.
Big love and can’t wait to share part 3 with you soon.
